Tami writes and shares a couple of quotes that have inspired her. (You can share quotes that have had an impact on you in the comments section below.)
Mother Teresa:
People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.If you are kind,
People may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be Kind anyway.If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and
some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.You see, in the final analysis.
it is between you and God;
It is never between you and them anyway.
This last stanza says it all. I don’t like to waste time looking side to side and worrying about what other people think of what I am doing. I want to spend my time looking UP to HIM to find out what HE wants me to be doing. Then what HE thinks is all that matters.
Yes, men and women who turn their lives over to God will find out that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, and pour out peace. Whosoever will lose his life to God will find he has eternal life.
Ezra Taft Benson
This one from President Benson is more than just a favorite quote…it is my life’s motto. I have put this to the test. I KNOW it to be true.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes that I just love:
Plato:
“When men speak ill of thee, live so that nobody will believe them.”
Another one I love is by Marjorie Pay Hinckley:
“The trouble with the world and the trouble with you and me is that we don’t love each other enough. And if we do, we don’t bother to show it, or we don’t bother to say it. If the world is to know love, it has to begin at home. It has to be in your heart and in mine. And the place to begin is home.”
And this one is also by Sister Hinckley:
“You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache.”
