When I see this picture I hear two voices in my head. One is my Mom’s running commentary on her own pictures. “Oh look and that… and that.” and “Do I look like this in real life?” But before that soundtrack rolls on there’s the original one – the one from a daughter’s perspective.
“Wow, mom has really nice teeth.”
“Look how cute she is in white.”
“Dad’s not looking bad himself.”
“They look really good together.”
My mom will always look beautiful to me. Nice, happy, reliable – the things you want a Mom to be. I know that is how my daughter sees me too, cuter, funnier, thinner and more lovable than I really am. If only we could see ourselves through our daughter’s eyes, wouldn’t the world be a better place?
Ah, such a great thought. We can be so hard on ourselves, can’t we?
I’m gonna keep this one in my mind for a while…it’s all the easier with the precious, handmade presents that come on Mother’s Day.
