For members of the Church, paying tithing can be a great blessing. How has paying your tithing blessed your life? Has it been difficult to do? Do you have a testimony of tithing?

Last week I barged into my husband’s youth Sunday School class because our baby was wandering the halls and I wanted to find an enclosed place for her to play. They were discussing tithing.
My husband asked them if they knew why we paid tithing. They said:
To help pay to build Temples and churches.
To provide the money to run the church like printing materials, lesson materials.
To help the needy.
For Missionary work.
We were quick to point out that our fast offerings that go to help feed the hungry, clothe the naked and so forth. But then I asked the kids, “Does God need our money?”
To which they all replied, “Yes, or else none of this work could be done!”
I said, “No, the entire world is God’s, all the beauty, natural resources and everything is God’s if he wanted to gather up money to do His will I’m sure that would be easy enough. Tithing must be for us.”
Huh?!?!?
Then I asked these questions.
What do you learn about yourself when you pay tithing?
What blessings do we receive for paying tithing?
How can sacrificing something good for something better improve our character?
Then the discussion turned to obedience, Love of God, unselfishness, covenants and other great gospel topics.
For me the blessing of tithing is that it is one method to teach me how to improve myself and show my love for God through obedience.
If one scripture gets repeated in my mind more than any other it is
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
I have a testimony that paying tithing has blessed our family with both temporal and spiritual blessings. But mainly, we pay tithing to show our love for God.
I was an infidel and my life was very eventful. I am married, therefore, to be rescued from unhappy childhood and adolescence. My decision was so irresponsible that I was divorced after five years of marriage. My sons have been four years and two years. I was in a desperate situation. I and my children we had a lack of all, and often we did not have what to eat. Only sometimes on weekends we could go to my mum for lunch. I was very grateful for it. Nevertheless, I smoke. It was a drug for me. I have failed from bad habits, free. I had no goal. I was constantly under stress and depression. The financial situation has improved a bit when I was married a second time. My second husband helped me raise my sons and I lived with him over twenty eight years of life and now it back to the care provided by my sons. It is very sick.
In January 2003, I met Christians from the Church of Jesus Christ Holy recent days. Very took me to their philosophy, their love and contentment that radiates from them. I stopped smoking and drinking coffee. I believed in God and Jesus Christ and believe that Jesus is our Savior. I have gotten a strong testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet and was the chosen of God Church reinstatement here on earth. I know that the book of Mormon together with the Bible provides us fullness of the Gospel. Therefore I left the 24th baptized in May 2003 and became an active member of this church.
Gospel totally changed my life. Gradually, as we learn to better understand why I am here on earth, more I appreciate everything around you. I realize that nothing is coincidence. Not that I know the Church. And now I know that all I have are gifts of God and by all gifts I manage. I pay tithes, Lenten sacrifice, but also the back part of their time. I go to the assembly every Sunday and I teach children in the primaries. I attending the Institute and I teach with the missionaries and I helping all people.
I am grateful to God for all gifts, for love, for family, for friends and am grateful for my life and I am grateful for the greatest gift in Jesus Christ. I want to be like Jesus Christ and do everything right. I never been so happy as I am now. I have everything I need and I feel that I also respected in his family and surroundings.
