For example, in this video, an LDS young woman from South Africa shares a poem she wrote entitled “Significant in Every Way.” As described on YouTube, the poem “celebrates the divine nature of young women as daughters of God and encourages them to be examples to others.”

This reminded me of a quote from Sister Sheri Dew, a former member of the General Relief Society Presidency of the Church.

“Ask the Lord to help you [remember, with the help of the Holy Ghost] who you are and who you have always been], and He will. Begin by reading D&C 138 and Abraham 3 about the noble and great ones, and ask the Lord to talk with you, through the Spirit, about you. When you understand, without equivocation, that you were chosen and reserved for now, and when you live in harmony with that mission and with the promises you made premortally, you’ll be happier than you have ever been before. That is a promise.”

Growing up, I didn’t know how good I had it. I had a mom and dad who loved each other, a sister to quarrel with over clothes and friends, two baby brothers to wrestle with, two dogs waiting by the door for me when I came home from school and some lively fish who liked to jump out of their tank. Life was good — so good in fact, that I’m trying to recreate my childhood with my own family. (Well except for the pets part; my husband and I are delaying the inevitable “poop scooping” era of our lives.) Aside from that, we’re following good example set by our parents.

This YouTube video entitled “Life in a Mormon Family” made me reflect on the fun times I had with my own family.  While not all LDS families are this large, we are a people who prize children as wonderful blessings from our Father in Heaven. I admire the time and sacrifice these parents have put into raising their eight children.

Here is the intro provided by the parents for their own heartfelt family video. Have fun getting to know this wonderful family.

You might call us the stereotypical Mormon family. With Mom, Dad, and 8 kids, we are just a little larger than the national average. 😉
Having a big family may not be for everyone and may not always be considered “cool”, but we’ve loved every minute of it.

We thought it was interesting to see stories about what is happening in the Church in Singapore and the Philippines translated into Spanish. (Note that the labels on the videos do not match up with the content of the videos…the first is about a new meetinghouse in Singapore, and the second is about training materials that were created for the Church members in the Philippines.)

I am moved by the faith of the widow of Zarephath and by the message of this scriptural story — that blessings come for following prophets in faith.

We were touched to read his story. Unable to complete his LDS mission in Russia because of health problems, he struggled with depression. On a trip to Nauvoo, a place that held special significance for him, Father Tony of the Catholic Church shared something that helped Seth pull out of his despair.

Seth’s story is a reminder that life doesn’t always work out as we want it to, or think it should, but that we can make the most of whatever our life circumstance may be.
