Twice a year, we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather in our church buildings and our homes — all over the world — and listen to the leaders of our Church give counsel and share inspiring messages at our two-day semiannual General Conference. As we believe in continuing revelation through prophets and apostles and other leaders, these conference become a sort of living scripture for us.

Interested in seeing what a conference is like? You can do it from the comfort of your own home. See this page for more details, or this page for additional broadcast options.

General Conference Traditions

Our semiannual conferences tend to include church unit and family traditions for many of us, which add to the anticipation and excitement we feel.

General Conference “Packets”

Parents often try to find creative ways to keep their children engaged in listening to and enjoying General Conference. In recent years, there have been people who have created “General Conference packets” that circulate around via email and websites. The Church has created one this year, which can be found here. Other packets can be found here and here.

This packet might be worth a glance if you are curious about the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The packet contains tidbits of information about each of the fifteen men whom we sustain as prophets, seers, and revelators in our day.

Mormon Women Share: Favorite talks/articles/videos/posts

As you have seen, we are trying to include a link to an article or talk (or video or other medium) that readers can review and reflect on. We have many articles we would like to share, but we also want to hear from you. Help us build up a collection of links to inspirational content that we can add to our library and include in our weekly Review, Reflect and Return feature.

One purpose of this site is to try to be a resource to find good, uplifting, faith-inspiring, good-inspiring content on the internet.

The article/talk/blog post does not have to be Mormon content per se, but we do like content to come from sites that are consistent with our mission here at Mormon Women, so we might give the site a look before approving a link.

There is so much good out there that can help us be, think, and do good. Please let us know what has impacted you recently. Since we can’t all be everywhere, we can help each other find the cream of the content…and maybe even help each other reduce the time we spend on more mindless material.

And, by the way, we are against some good humor, either!

Bring Arnold Frieberg’s Art to a City Near You!

Arnold Frieberg is a prolific artist known around the world for his talent. He is probably best known for his painting “The Prayer at Valley Forge.” He has done commissioned work for British royalty, received an Academy Award nomination

Born December 21, 1913, in Winnetka, Illinois, Arnold Friberg is recognized as one of the greatest master painters of modern times. Perhaps his best-known work is the 1975 American masterpiece “The Prayer at Valley Forge” — depicting George Washington praying while the Continental Army winters at Valley Forge.

He also did the pre-visualization paintings for the Cecil B. DeMille film The Ten Commandments , for which he received an Academy Award nomination.

Currently, the exhibit is in Bountiful, Utah. If you are interested in getting the exhibit in your area, you can go here to vote (see the ‘vote’ tab at the top of the page).
