Yesterday, ground was broken for the temple that will be built in Rome, Italy. This is the first Mormon temple in Italy, and the 12th temple in Europe. Following are links and videos that share more about the temple in Rome and more about why temples are important to Mormons.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has created a website dedicated to the Rome, Italy temple, with current information about the temple that will be built there.

At the groundbreaking, President Monson urged LDS Church members in Italy to see this groundbreaking “as a day of rededication in our lives as it is a day of dedication for this ground.”

For a computer-generated aerial view of the Rome, Italy temple, see the following video.

Another story on the groundbreaking can be found here.

We thought it was interesting to see stories about what is happening in the Church in Singapore and the Philippines translated into Spanish. (Note that the labels on the videos do not match up with the content of the videos…the first is about a new meetinghouse in Singapore, and the second is about training materials that were created for the Church members in the Philippines.)

The dean of the college, Stephen Jones, collaborated with Emmy-award winning composer and producer Sam Cardon and vocalists Jenny Jordan Frogley and David Osmond to write and produce the song. The video on this site features images by University Communications photographer Mark Philbrick.
