As missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sister Amanda Abel and Sister Ryceejo Nordström were put together as companions, and discovered their shared love of singing and music. A recording artist lived in the area in which they were serving, and helped them make this video.

You can read more about these sisters and the making of this video at Mormon Soprano.

Editor’s note: Perhaps the greatest story in human history is the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This short musical film, created several years ago, depicts the early part of the sacred Christmas story when Mary tells Joseph of the angelic visitor, and he receives his own angelic visitation confirming the truth of her words.

Watching the video made me reflect on how God uses ordinary people to do His extraordinary work, on the reality of angels, on the power of faith, and on the blessing of prophecies of holy prophets that helped people know of the Savior’s first coming, and prepare us for His Second Coming.

Thanks to Charles Cranney, one of the Mormon producers of this short Christmas musical film, for sharing it. Mary (Joy Gardner) and Joseph (Dallyn Bayles) are played by musician/actors who performed in “The Savior of the World” a musical production of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, performed at the Church’s Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

You can hear producers’ comments on this version of the video. Read more about how this short came to be under the “about” section.

(Karen, a Mormon convert, is pictured above in a video (part 1 of 2) where she shares her Mormon conversion story.)

A reader, Mandy, recently asked the following question:

Do you know of any Mormons who converted from Catholicism? What are their reasons for converting?

Immediately, my friend Karen came to mind. Following is her conversion story in her own words (in two parts). You can also read more of her story at Mormon Scholars Testify.

We’ll be linking to a few more stories of Catholics who converted to Mormonism tomorrow.

This is a beautiful Mother’s Day tribute, a song written by Mormon women songwriter/musician, Calee Reed. Calee’s mom passed away recently from cancer. She wrote this song as a tribute to her mother.

Will you help Calee share this message, in honor of her mother and as a tribute to mothers everywhere, and to help those suffering from cancer?  (At Mormon Women, we don’t do commercial sponsorships, but because 100% of the proceeds from this single will be donated to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, we felt it was appropriate to share.)

General Conference is always a highlight for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Twice a year, we hear from prophets and apostles and other general leaders and officers of the Church. As a former Church president, Harold B. Lee said, we as Mormons are encouraged to have the words from General Conference “be the guide to [our] walk and talk during the next six months. These are the important matters the Lord sees fit to reveal to this people in this day.”

Listening to this General Conference highlights can both give a good review of some of the key messages from General Conference for those who were able to listen. For those wondering about Mormonism, it gives a glimpse of what Mormon beliefs are, and about what Mormon life is like. We believe in Jesus Christ, in His and Heavenly Father’s love for all of us. Messages of hope are threaded throughout. Some of the reasons for the emphasis on family in Mormon doctrine are touched upon. Invitations for all of us to become better people are throughout the messages.

We are grateful to share and know that God speaks to prophets today, just as He did in ancient times. And we are grateful to know that God will speak to us individually to know how best to implement and follow their words.

If you watched General Conference, what messages stood out to you? If you didn’t, we invite you to watch this video and share your thoughts, questions, or insights.

We are already in the planning stages for this year’s Family Proclamation Celebration. One of our projects that we would like to do is gather video submissions from men, women, and children throughout the world reading parts of The Family: A Proclamation to the World and then splicing them together to create a video about the Proclamation! We welcome submissions in your native language and Sign Language.

Read here for specific video submission guidelines and watch the following video for more information. Help spread the word, using hashtags  #celebratefamily and #familyproclamation and link to http://tinyurl.com/77yvp5g

The Savior, Jesus Christ, reminded us that it’s important for us to not judge others. President Thomas S. Monson reminds us of the reality that so often, we don’t really see clearly when making judgments about others. His talk on charity is the foundation for this new Mormon Messages video, “Looking through Windows.”

Are we looking through a window which needs cleaning? Are we making judgments when we don’t have all the facts? What do we see when we look at others? What judgments do we make about them?

Said the Savior, “Judge not.” 1 He continued, “Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” 2 Or, to paraphrase, why beholdest thou what you think is dirty laundry at your neighbor’s house but considerest not the soiled window in your own house?

None of us is perfect. I know of no one who would profess to be so. And yet for some reason, despite our own imperfections, we have a tendency to point out those of others. We make judgments concerning their actions or inactions.

There is really no way we can know the heart, the intentions, or the circumstances of someone who might say or do something we find reason to criticize. Thus the commandment: “Judge not.” – President Thomas S. Monson, “Charity Never Faileth“
