Elder L. Tom Perry passed away on May 30, 2015. Although his passing came more quickly than was expected, his last days were peaceful and surrounded by his family and fellow Church leaders. This news story is one I found particularly poignant. (I was reminded about a guest post by Elder Perry’s son here at Mormon Women as well. It’s worth a read.)

And here’s a fun mini-tribute in the world of pop culture and social media history: P. Diddy quoted Elder Perry a couple of years ago!

LDS Church Apostle, Elder Dallin H. Oaks, addresses recent graduates on the topic of religious freedoms and liberty (full text). He says, “Religious values and political realities are so interlinked in the origin and perpetuation of this nation that we cannot lose the influence of Christianity in the public square without seriously jeopardizing our freedoms.” Summary of the talk can be found here.

Elder Oaks answers questions about his talk below.
