Thanks for this well wrtten statement. When I first started going to the church I thought women should be given more responsibility... possibly in the priesthood. I think my thoughts changed after I joined the church, became a primary teacher and realized what hard work we as women already have in the church. As someone who learns a little more of the church each day... I am sure the men of the church have knowledge of things we do not have and there is a reasoning behind keeping only men in the priesthood. Understand that I am a very independent woman... I am very educated and put 4 children through college as well. However, for myself my only desire is to learn from others in the church.. and though I do recognize that other women may have a desire to be priesthood holders, I do not. I respect their desires and do not believe anyone should be excommunicated for that expression... I see it as part of their growth in our church.

I enjoyed your well written thoughts. I agree with all that you stated. I also, have noted that even before the issues over the priesthood came about that the brethren were inspired to give addresses on these questions. Of course, the most powerful one was Elder Oaks in the Priesthood session of the last conference. Also, Sherrie Dew's new book on the Priesthood. I feel they were inspired to write on this very subject to help us all know more about the divine given priesthood that blesses our lives daily.
