Jeanine,

I hope that the links provided might give you some food for thought. I find it interesting that the Lord himself makes it very clear that He knows that unrighteous dominion would happen, because that is the "nature and disposition of almost all men" (and I would say that could include women as well).

I think God also wants an end to unrighteous dominion, but I personally think that female ordination is not the key to that happening.

BTW, from my research, Thomas' perspective is not consistent with the doctrine of the priesthood. YES, motherhood is ESSENTIAL to God's plan, but men don't hold priesthood simply because they are naturally better leaders. And the doctrine of priesthood power is much broader than who does what in the Church. That is the kind of thing I hope to invite people to ponder more through providing these links and other teachings like them. I know I don't understand it all, but I know that pondering priesthood is an amazing endeavor. I've been studying this topic for years but we have more than ever before to help us understand the doctrine, and even in the past few months, I feel like my understanding has increased.

God knows and understands the struggle. Of that I am convinced. It is not a small thing to Him. Continue to take your questions to Him and ponder the teachings He is giving and has given through His leaders. I pray you can come to know and feel more of the power of the doctrine of the priesthood distill in your life.

Thank you for a thoughtful perspective on a topic of much interest to me. Thank you for the many links. Unfortunately, I think Thomas' comments brilliantly illustrate why so many women struggle with this issue. The attitude that women are for baby-making and men are for telling people what to do leads to much unrighteous dominion. If we could experience an absence of unrighteous dominion, I sincerely think that the agitation for women to hold the priesthood would diminish almost completely. I thought his point about Mother in Heaven is interesting. Wouldn't it be interesting if someday it is revealed that Mother too has priesthood power? I wonder if those who are so quick to accept the current situation, would find their faith challenged by such a revelation.
