I am lds and I just found out My husband has had a sexual addiction for years. Also he had an affair with my best lds friend. This has been very hard on me and just started seeking help. So sad that my best friend and husband could do this. My husband and I have 6 kids and it’s such a hard time. I did not know he had a sexual addiction and so he has really had a secret life I was competently blindside by.

It’s important to know that women are susceptible to this kind of addiction as well. I’m one of those women. It’s a very difficult but possible path to recovery, which road I myself continue to stumble on, but I know that soon I will be free.

I’m a marriage and family therapist, and many of my clients are struggling with sexual addiction. I consider it to be a form of drug addiction. The difference is that the drugs are produced by the addict’s own body in response to sexual stimuli. Imagine trying to stay away from your drug dealer when it’s your own body. Of course, there are differences as well, but not as many as you might think.

Such a serious addiction, that ruins relationships and steals the joy out of life. Ironically I just finished writing an article online, to help those who struggle find help.
