Now I feel I am in the process of be cleansed by God and becoming a new creature in Christ. I have no desire to return to my sins of lust and pray that He will give me the strength to join the saints of Jehovah in paradise some day.

Whoever you are do not give up. Fast and pray to your Heavenly Father and cry unto Him for mercy and strength. Pray for the Holy Spirit to seal you up into the LORD’s book of life. I have suffered off and on with this sin for over sixteen years. The LORD is merciful and long suffering. He loves you and wants you to receive eternal life with Him. Do not give up. The devil will tell you it is hopeless. God can help you overcome all in Him if you truly humble yourself and turn to Him. I have slipped and messed up likely over 1,000 times. God can help you overcome sin.

Thanks for your courage in sharing your comment. Have you been able to connect with a recovery group? This is such a hard addiction to face, but women are finding healing and recovery and support with each other. There are women’s groups in some areas in the Church’s Addiction Recovery program, and you could also contact someone at healingthroughchrist.org.

I’d also encourage you, if you haven’t already, to read a little about how addiction affects the brain. (e.g, Donald Hilton’s book is a sobering one, but a good one.) The addiction is not who you really are! A combination of understanding the brain science and connecting with people who are learning how to access the Atonement is making a difference in people’s lives.

When I was in elementary school I was playing with friends at a home a couple of doors down the street. One of the kids in the family showed us his dad’s Playboy magazines on the master bedroom closet shelf.

We didn’t look at them, but here’s a similar lesson to the OP. If you are hiding dirty magazines in your home (or in your browser history), your kids (and probably their friends, too) will know about it.

The dad probably still has no idea that most of the neighborhood kids knew about his issues, but they did. And when the same guy was my Sunday School teacher, it totally creeped me out.

I think, like many things we are counseled about, the easiest way around these things is to resist the INITIAL temptations. They are likely much weaker than those that will come if we indulge at all.
