Thank you for this encouraging and thoughtful article. I am an unemployed fifty four year old widow with four children and the younger two are closely approaching college age. Since my school closed in 2009, I have not taught and I am beginning to realize that most likely I will not be able to teach again due to the job shortage and the preference for new graduates, rather than experienced teachers. It is painful to lose value in front of your children and it is equally painful to not know what to prepare them for. I try to be faithful and loyal, but there is no sense of God's presence near me
and I am only me,not Job. Thanks again for the encouraging thoughts in the helpful article.

I just want to say how much I appreciate this post . We are unemployed and it does help to have these resources. It also helps to know that there are many others out there in the same boat. Though I wish it were different, I do find some comfort in feeling like we are not alone in this challenge.
