Thank you for sharing this story about Sally. I have always thought that Jesus would rather have us worship with his people in church than stay home because they didn’t feel like they looked just right. One time I showed up for a stake meeting with all men. I was the only woman and I had no idea that it would be held in the chapel. All the men were wearing suits. I had on a pair of slacks. My friend told me it was ok to come in to the meeting, that it was important for me to be there and that it wasn’t that important that I didn’t have on a dress. Normally, the ideal is that we wear our best to show respect. Sometimes our best is not what everyone’s else best is at that moment. The Lord wants us there. He wants us to be involved. He loves us just the way we are.

I love this. Sally taught my daughter for a year; when we moved, she had the entire Primary class sign their names to a pillow case (Sally signed it, too) to give to my daughter as a farewell gift.

She still has it, and now we cherish it.

Thank you so much for such a remarkable tribute to Sally. I’m so grateful that we’ll all see her again one day!

Thank you so much for this beautiful post. I recently lost a grandfather who influenced my life the way Sally influenced yours. Your note that ” Even though she can no longer physically walk beside me here on earth, her loving influence will live on in how I choose to live with pain,” helps me remember that my grandfather isn’t as far away as I sometimes feel… his influence, example and love is all around me and will continue to live on even though he has left this earth. Thanks again.

Sally taught all of my children too. She is greatly missed. She was a very comfortable woman and so loving. I really like your shoes idea and hadn’t know Sally had so much discomfort – she was always smiling. Now that I think about it you’re always smiling too. I hope God blesses you just as much as He’s blessed Sally.
