I, too, had a strong desire to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. My answer came a little differently, and in a little-by-little kind of way. I first gained a conviction that the Book of Mormon is true. Knowing that was the foundation of my testimony of Joseph Smith for many years, until I served as a missionary and got to teach about Joseph Smith every day. It was then that I knew in a sort of stand-alone way that Joseph Smith was a prophet.
